Geography

1. The United States has regional patterns of different landscapes. These include mountain ranges, forests, plains, and even desert areas.
2. Our country is located in the northern hemisphere on the continent of North America.
3. The Grand Canyon, located in the state of Arizona, is one of the 7 wonders of the world.
4. The United States ranks as the 4th largest country in the world.
5. Our national bird is the bald eagle.

History

1. The United States is a very young country as compared to most other countries.
2. Our country became independent from England a little more than 200 years ago.
3. The American flag has 13 red and white stripes to represent the original 13 colonies and 50 stars to represent the 50 states. It was originally designed by Betsy Ross.
4. Ellis Island, located on the Hudson River just between New Jersey and New York, was where millions of people passed through as they entered the United States between 1892 and 1954.
5. In 1969 Neil Armstrong was the first person to walk on the moon.

Our Culture

1. The culture of the United States is made up of several other cultures including groups of people from all other continents.
2. We have a lot of museums including wax museums, historical, and art museums.
3. Entertainment, especially sports, is a very important part of our culture.

4. We have some of the most thrilling amusement parks in the world.

Our State: New Jersey

1. We have a state flag and a state animal which is a horse. Here is a picture of our state flag.


2. New Jersey is located in the northeastern part of the country, near the Atlantic Ocean.
3. New Jersey is just 10 miles from New York City.
4. We are known as "The Garden State" because of our farms.
5. The very first game of baseball was played in Hoboken, New Jersey in 1846.

Our City and Our School

1. The city of Elizabeth is located in the northeastern part of the state of New Jersey and is only 12.2 square miles big.
2. Our city's population is about 125,000 citizens large.
3. Our school is called Theodore Roosevelt, School #17. It was built in 1920 and goes from pre-kindergarten to 8th grade.
4. Our school has about 1000 students and over 100 teachers and staff members.
